Her work explores and celebrates the beauty of the natural world. This painting is based on the original Anishinabe stories of Nanabush interacting with the animals of the forest. Here, Nanabush is singing to the forest creatures and they all arrive to hear the song and feel the joy of this land.
Leah Marie Dorion is a self-taught visual artist of metis ancestry. Her work combines contemporary styles with traditional art forms, adding beadwork to reproductions of her paintings that explore light, movement, and texture.

Michel Therrien has been creating life-size wildlife chainsaw carvings for 20 years. His works include animal carvings and as well as indoor and outdoor furniture. NANABUSH, ANIMALS & BIRDS QUILT

25 Applique blocks, approximate size: 90” x 100”. This original artwork quilt titled, Nanabush, Wesiinyik & Bneshiinyik Bbaatka’ge (Ojibwe for animals & birds), was designed by Alison Tranter and Cindy Peltier and created by Wabano’s quilting group. Each stunning appliqué block was lovingly created by community members to highlight different Nanabush stories. The centre Nanabush image is from petroglyphs on the Canadian Shield. This quilt is dedicated to Florence Fox.
