The Role

The Anti-Human Trafficking Case Manager provides short term and longer term case management and referral services to First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals who are at risk for grooming,  involved in, or transitioning out of Human Trafficking.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess with client the risk factors and develop a wellness plan with the client;
  • Develop goal focused transition plans with client;
  • Coordinate involvement of internal and external resources to be mobilized to execute effective support;
  • Establish supports for complex issues in order to ensure safety;
  • Promote Indigenous beliefs, values and traditions that enhance health.
  • Support the evaluate program process with data entry and analysis;
  • Develop supportive relations with clients, family members, internal and external staff;
  • Advocate for clients to ensure quality and timeliness of service and supports;
  • Do some education and training with co-workers to help in identifying risks, grooming behaviors to help support clients who are impacted by human trafficking;
  • Create and maintain appropriate confidential records and client files, complete reporting requirements in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary completion in Social Service, Social Work, Addictions, Gender Studies or other applicable program of study;
  • Minimum of 2 years of case management experience, crisis intervention and outreach;
  • Experience in database/records management, assessment and interview of clients;
  • Knowledge of social, economic and health issues relevant to the urban Indigenous community;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Indigenous clients, including a sound knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on culture in contemporary society;
  • Evidence of strong organizational and negotiating skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy;
  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, positive and flexible member of a team who thrives in a fluid environment;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
  • Clear criminal reference check to work with vulnerable population is required.

Salary Range:

$57,000 to 60,000 with benefits
