The Role

The Anti-Human Trafficking Systems Navigator provides short term case management and referral services to First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals who are involved in, or transitioning out of Human Trafficking.

Responsibilities:

• Develop goal focused transition plans with client;
• Coordinate involvement of internal and external resources to be mobilized to execute effective support;
• Establish supports for complex issues in order to ensure safety;
• Promote Indigenous beliefs, values and traditions that enhance health.
• Support the evaluate program process with data entry and analysis;
• Develop supportive relations with clients, family members, internal and external staff;
• Advocate for clients to ensure quality and timeliness of service and supports;
• Create and maintain appropriate confidential records and client files, complete reporting requirements in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Post secondary completion in Social Work, Social Services, Addictions, Gender Studies or other applicable program of study;
• Minimum of 2 years of case management experience, crisis intervention and outreach;
• Experience in database/records management, assessment and interview of clients;
• Knowledge of social, economic and health issues relevant to the urban Indigenous community;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Indigenous clients, including a sound knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on culture in contemporary society;
• Evidence of strong organizational and negotiating skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy;
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, positive and flexible member of a team who thrives in a fluid environment;
• Current CPR-First AID level C, ASIST, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or willingness to obtain;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
• Clear criminal reference check to work with vulnerable population is required.
