Walking In Beauty – Cultural Camp for Youth
Join us for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Indigenous teachings at Walking In Beauty! This immersive cultural camp offers youth a unique opportunity to learn, create, and experience the richness of Indigenous traditions in a fun and engaging environment.
Led by Wabano Youth staff who will be joined by respected cultural educators, youth will participate in Bundle Teachings and create a meaningful item for their own personal bundle. Experience the power of storytelling with the incredible Louise Profeit-Leblanc, and discover the significance of Maple Syrup at the Proulx Farm Maple Sugar Bush.
The adventure doesn’t stop there! Get outdoors with a full day at the YMCA Outdoor Education and Leadership Centre, where youth will have hands-on opportunities for leadership development and teamwork. Engage in Inuit games, enjoy making bannock over an open fire, and take a winter medicine walk to explore nature’s healing power.
For youth ages 7 to 12, the camp runs Monday, March 10 to Thursday, March 13, from 9:00 am to noon. On Friday, March 14, we’ll have a full-day outing at Wabano beginning at 9 am – don’t miss out!
For youth ages 13 to 18, enjoy a slightly later start with camp running from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Monday to Thursday, with a full-day outing on Friday.
Spaces are limited, and the camp promises to be a fun, enriching, and transformative experience for all participants. Join us in celebrating culture, creativity, and connection to the land!
