CIRCLE OF CARE COORDINATOR

About the Circle of Care Program

When the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) opens a file involving an Indigenous family, Wabano will receive a referral. Wabano’s responsibility is to ensure that Indigenous families receive culturally informed, community‑based support for the duration of their involvement with CAS.

 

The Circle of Care program uses a culturally informed Alternative Dispute Resolution process to facilitate talking circles with families, CAS representatives, and other supports. Through this approach, staff help create a collaborative environment that supports families in reaching constructive, sustainable solutions.

Position Summary

The Circle of Care Coordinator supports families involved with the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) by strengthening communication, fostering meaningful family and community connections, and developing collaborative safety plans.

The Circle of Care Coordinator also oversees all aspects of program delivery, including family intake, Circle planning, facilitator coordination, record‑keeping, and program evaluation. This role ensures that each Circle honours the family’s cultural teachings, confidentiality, voice, and community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver Circle of Care programming;
  • Conduct client intakes, file assignments, and file closures;
  • Support families through culturally safe referrals, advocacy, and connecting to community resources;
  • Communicate with families, CAS, Indigenous organizations, and community service partners;
  • Ensure reporting is accurate and completed in a timely manner;
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of Circle of Care Facilitators;
  • Ensure Facilitator contracts are completed, signed, and adhered to;
  • Coordinate Facilitator schedules, travel, and Circle locations chosen by the family;
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date program records and documentation;
  • Monitor program budgets and assist in planning;
  • Collect data, evaluate outcomes, and prepare required reports;
  • Build positive relationships within Wabano and across the Indigenous service community;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) degree required, preferably in Social Work or Indigenous Studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience in program coordination or administration
  • Knowledge in conflict resolution, restorative approaches, or ADR
  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples and knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends as Circles require)

Salary Range:

$ 62,000 to $65,000 per year + Benefits
