Purpose of Position
The Intake Crisis Worker serves as the first point of contact for individuals and families in crisis, providing immediate, culturally safe, and trauma-informed support. This role will consist of conducting mental health and Clinic intakes, initial assessments, and makes referral connections to internal and external services. Grounded in Indigenous-led, holistic care, the Crisis Intake worker builds trust, reduces barriers to access, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, Elders, and community partners to ensure timely, culturally relevant support that promotes healing and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide intake to new clients of the Centre;
- Provide culturally-appropriate direct service including client assessment and referrals, crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management;
- Provide advocacy and referrals to help clients access relevant community services;
- Enter all client information and statistical information into the Electronic Medical Records system and other databases as required;
- Maintaining accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records, ensuring required information is shared with organizations receiving referrals, and monitoring referral status of clients;
- Other administration tasks in order to provide high-quality client care or as dictated by the needs of the organization.
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree/diploma in a social services field;
- Exceptional customer service skills and problem-solving ability;
- Experience working in a front-line role;
- Able to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment;
- Excellent computer skills – experience using an Electronic Medical Records System will be considered an asset;
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language will be considered a strong asset;
- Knowledge, sensitivity and awareness of the history, culture and unique needs of the urban Indigenous culture;
- Excellent organizational skills with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Clear criminal reference check to work with vulnerable population is required.

Salary Range
$50,000 to $55,000
