Wabano, Grand Gathering Space

Join knowledge keepers Jerry and Jo-Ann Saddleback from Maskwacîs – Treaty 6, Alberta who will provide teachings on the rights of passage for female/male and two spirit individuals.

Teachings will cover Berry Fast Teachings for when a girl gets her first moon time to womanhood.   They will also discuss aunties role.   After lunch they will move into rights of passage teachings from boyhood to manhood and uncles roles.  Come and join us as we learn more about these Cree teachings and how they help guide our youth in their transitions to womenhood and manhood.

This event is for the First Nations/Inuit/ Métis/ community.  This is part of our commitment to helping community members reclaim teachings as we recognize the impacts of residential schools.   There is an open teachings on March 10 at culture night.
