Dr. Peter Selby is Senior Scientist & Senior Medical Consultant at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and holds the Dr. Barnett & Beverley Giblon Professorship in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto.
His research focuses on innovative methods to understand and treat addictive behaviours and their comorbidities, combining clinical medicine, public health and technology-enabled systems.
Some of his major accomplishments include:
- Leading a cohort of over 400,000 treated smokers in Ontario as part of his research.
- Having grant funding exceeding CAD $100 million from CIHR, NIH and other major health ministries.
- Publishing more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and authoring/co-editing books and book chapters.
- Serving in leadership roles (e.g., Vice-Chair, Research at U of T’s Department of Family & Community Medicine) and being recognized with major awards—such as the 2023 Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine Lifetime Achievement Award in Addiction Medicine.
