Experience the beauty, movement, and teachings of the hoop dance in this immersive 5‑hour workshop led by celebrated champion hoop dancer Beany John. Known for her unforgettable performances at the Wabano Gala and for inspiring audiences across Turtle Island, Beany brings her energy, artistry, and deep cultural knowledge to every session.

This workshop invites participants into the world of hoop dancing—from its rich history to the skills and rhythms that bring the dance to life. You’ll learn traditional teachings behind the hoop dance, explore 3-hoop dance combinations, and have the rare opportunity to create your own set of hoops to take home.

Alongside hands-on learning, the workshop features a live hoop dance performance by Beany John—an unforgettable experience that blends athleticism, storytelling, and cultural expression.

What’s Included

  • Participants make and keep their own hoops

We will have a supper service for participants.

Whether you’re new to hoop dancing or reconnecting with traditional movement, this workshop offers creativity, culture, and connection—all in a supportive, hands-on environment.
