Wabano’s “Wewe: March Migration”
On-the-Land Field Trip – Cobb’s Creek Floodplain
This family event is for members of the community with proof of Indigenous ancestry or kinship connection. Wabano is excited to invite the community to join us for an unforgettable day of Indigenous cultural education and on-the-land learning as we explore the Cobb’s Creek Floodplain, located just east of the city. This exciting outing is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with nature, discover local wildlife, and learn about the land’s cultural significance. This cultural land-based programming event is held in partnership with Wabano’s Diabetes Program.
Event Highlights:
• Guided Nature Walk: Immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world as our knowledgeable guide takes you on an informative walk through the floodplain.
• Birdwatching Opportunity: Experience the breathtaking spectacle of thousands of migrating snow geese, along with a variety of other waterfowl and migrant birds. You may even catch a glimpse of majestic Golden Eagles, Bald Eagles, and other raptors soaring overhead.
• Indigenous Cultural Education: Learn about the history, traditions, and teachings of Indigenous peoples as we explore the land, deepening our understanding of its spiritual and cultural importance. Learn a goose call and test it out in the field!

• Date: March 22, 2025
• Time: Bus departs Wabano Centre (295 Montreal Rd.) at 10:00 AM.
• Transportation & Lunch: Round-trip transportation from Wabano Centre and a healthy lunch will be provided for all participants.
• What to Bring: Please bring your binoculars and camera to enhance your birdwatching experience. You may want to bring winter rubber boots or comfortable footwear for a hike. We may encounter puddles and slushy, wet ground.
